Client Testimonials

"Hi, HDTV unit works great! Thanks" Geoff, NSW.

Pros:
Price is good, USB connectivity and setup easy, as is the installation. Time shift, recording straight to HDD (C: or external USB), I Have a 1tb unit it records to. You can then replay the program through the TV if hooked up to the PC (or just watch it on the PC) and the clarity is true digital and true HD if broadcast that way an your graphics card and resolution allows it.

Cons: Remote fairly useless as it needs to be in proximity to the USB device which I have in the rear USB port on my laptop, but that's no big deal. IMPORTANT - MAKE SURE YOU CAN CONNECT THE ANTENNA TO A ROOF/OUTDOOR ANTENNA AS THE ONE THAT IT COMES WITH IN THE PACKAGE ONLY PICKS UP SBS. Sometimes getting the TV tuner to work can be fiddly because it's also a media player that plays DVD's etc so you need to choose what you want it to do.

Overall: If you have the antenna cable connected to the main house antenna on the roof then it's
a great buy. All the channels can be watched, has a scheduled recording function, timeshifted,
paused, snapshotted etc. It's like a spare TV when the other half demands to watch her dancing
or singing shows (I am sure you blokes know what I mean) - get a set of headphones, a few beers
and kick back in front of the PC!...May 22nd, 209, Sydney, NSW, sabp5 (S P) Product Reviewer

"Hi
I just purchased from Dick Smith your HDTV USB receiver. When the unit is connected to an external ariel I found the quality of the picture to be excellent. I tried recording shows and transferring the file to an external 1TB HDD for playing back on my Samsung LCD HD TV. The resultant sound and picture was as good as the original. I would recommend you product to anyone who wanted a USB receiver. Its fantastic value at $50.
Kind regards
Les Kerr

Product Drivers
A lot of drivers contained on this website have compressed files because of the size of the CD’s
    that they usually come with.

Download Product Driver here - version one

Download Product Driver here - version two

Download Product Driver here - version three

Here is a simple way to uncompress any of the RAR files that are contained within:

  • Create a folder on your desktop called...Driver for HDTV (or relevant product you are
    uncompressing)
  • Locate the file you wish to decompress
          Step 1
  • Then right click with mouse on the file
          Step 2
  • Select Desktop, then click on the folder you created (driver for HDTV)
           Step 3

           Step 4
  • Select ok
          Step 5
  • You will then notice that the files are being uncompressed or extracted
          Step 6

  • Once this process is completed, locate the folder you created and the files you uncompressed will be in there looking like this:
          Step 7

Please note, it is advisable that you copy the files here onto an available blank CD to ensurefile integrity.

Frequently Asked Questions

1) I can load blaze HDTV and Directx 9 but when I try to install drivers I get an error saying to
     install hotfix Now?

Solution 1:

If it is the ‘Blaze TV’ program that came with the product, then this is the way to fix it:
Go to -Start->Settings->Control Panel->Administrative Tools->Computer Management->Device Manager

Then look for the DVB unknown device with a '?' next to it. Select it, then right click to properties.
Click the Driver tab and update driver. Point it towards the CD that came with the product and let it scan the disk, then make sure you choose the right device driver for XP.

2) How can I tell which version of the HDTV receiver I have?

Solution 1:

The first version also has the ‘Blaze TV’ driver on the Disc that came with the product.

The updated version that was released towards the end of 2009, has the ‘Honestech’ drivers located on the Disc. If you don’t have the disc but still have the packaging, look for a version number (v3) located on the artwork. Failing that, you may still have the driver located on your Computer. The quickest and easiest way to tell the difference is the differences with the Antenna as seen below.
